Platica was born as a curriculum-based conversation program for Spanish students at Harvard University in the Spring of 2011. The program is used as a tool by Spanish teachers to help their students put into practice what they learn in class, by employing videoconferences to connect them with conversation partners in Latin America. Given the demand, since 2018 we have begun to offer the program to private individuals interested in excelling their command of the language.

Our method of having short, 20-minute conversations is to keep the conversations from feeling forced. After running the program for several years, we have found that this particular length of the conversations is perfect to allow for gradual progress and is enough to encourage improvement.

Terms & Conditions: Once you have scheduled an appointment with your conversation partner, we require a 24-hour cancellation notice or the session will be charged. Conversation partners are allowed to wait for you for up to 10 minutes from the time of your scheduled appointment. The 12-session package must be redeemed within 3 months of purchase. The 25-session package must be redeemed within 6 months of purchase. The 45-session package must be redeemed within 9 months of purchase. The 60-session package must be redeemed within 12 months of purchase. Each session is a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 25 minutes. The packages are not transferable: the person who attends the first session must attend the rest of the conversations in the package.

Choose a conversation package that you feel best suits you and your goals.
Personalize the program
Within 24 hours of your purchase, you will receive a registration email where you will be able to schedule your first conversation. Additionally, you will be given an opportunity to share with us your expectations and goals with the program, so that we may begin to structure a plan that suits said goals and expectations.
Have your conversations and receive feedback
One day before each conversation, you will receive an email reminder. Your dedicated conversation partner will work with you to help you achieve the goals you have set yourself with the use of the program. Your commitment is our commitment. After each conversation, you will receive a detailed, written feedback form with the mistakes you made in each conversation and tips on how to improve.

FAQ
Will I be able to prepare beforehand for my conversations?
Yes. Based on the information you provide us when you register, we will prepare a series of conversation guides that will allow you to see the direction each conversation may take. Armed with this information, you can prepare any vocabulary you feel you are lacking in order to have a fluent conversation.
Can I reschedule my appointments?
Yes. You will need to reschedule your conversation or notify your conversation partner at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, in order to prevent it from being deducted from the package you purchased.
If I do not like my conversation partner, can I request a different one?
Yes. We will allow you to change your conversation partner once, but note that if you decide to change, there might be scheduling constraints with your new conversation partner.
How many sessions may I have per week?
As many as you want. We adapt to your learning speed.
