How to Get a Perfect Score in the Listening Comprehension Section of the AP Spanish Exam

Interpretative Communication – Audio Texts and Print and Audio Texts Combined.

This part of the test is divided into two sections. The first section involves reading a text and listening to an audio selection. The second section will only involve listening to an audio track. You will then need to answer multiple-choice questions on both of them. You will be provided with 55 minutes to complete this part of the test and it counts as 25% of your final grade.

Keep in mind, you will be able to listen to all audio recordings twice. So don’t stress if you miss a detail or couldn’t listen to something. The multiple-choice questions you will answer are written down and not recorded.

Tips on how to score a 5 in the multiple-choice questions of listening comprehension:

  1. Try to take advantage of any free time you have. Before the audio recording begins, use the time to read some of the questions. That way you will have an idea of what you need to look for.
  2. Make sure to take notes of any important details. Of course, if you feel that taking notes interrupts your attention of the audio recording, don’t do it.
  3. In the printed text section, underline important ideas and details. This way, it will be a lot easier to find them when they ask you questions about the text.
  4. If you are not sure of the answer, try eliminating answers you are sure are not the correct answer and make as much of an educated guess as you can.
  5. You do not receive any penalty for wrong answers. If time is running out, make sure to give an answer to all the questions. Don’t leave any blank answers.
